Heading and return home

Meet our volunteers

Current 2007 - 2008 International Teaching Team

We expect a few more to arrive very soon

Tobi Edmonds

Tobi is a 26 year old environmental scientist from Australia who was actually born in Canada. He has come to work in Cofradia for one year with his wife Melanie. They applied specifically for this school because they like the ideology of the school. The idea to give poor children the chance to have education seems a really good philosophy. For the coming year he personally wants to teach the children something about the environment and the importance of clean water and biodiversity. He is working with some of our youngest children at present.

Melanie Sim

Melanie, Tobi's wife, is also 26 and a professional journalist at home. She is currently working with the upper primary school grades. Melanie grew up in the heart of Australia's snow country . Melanie is a qualified ESL teachers and has brought a lot of knowledge and material from her parents who are both teachers. Her first day of teaching in Honduras was made doubly exciting because her brother placed second in one of Australia's major International ski races on the same day.  Melanie is a talented guitarist and has traveled extensively. The children are very excited to have her guiding their learning process.

STEPHANIE TESTA

Stephanie grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Georgian College in December 2005 with a degree in Social Work. She has quite a lot of teaching experience from many years at her church, teaching Christian education every Sunday morning to working as a teacher's assistant, kindergarten teacher and then full time Spanish teacher at the Goddard School in Old Bridge. She has also been very generous with her time given for social causes including three previous trips to Honduras with team putting clean water systems into remote villages. Stephanie taught here in 2006 and has returned to help out again for a short time.
