What Does one say about Oneself?

My friends call me Ben. And, one day I may write a list of the other things I've been called.

Webmaster

I am the apprentice webmaster for this site. I say "apprentice" because this is the first time I have attempted to design and build a website and I really have very little previous knowledge or experience to draw from. I hope everyone who visits the site finds the information they came for. Please feel free to send me any advice and/or suggestions on ways I might be able to improve the functionality, quality or content of this site.

Project Director

My wife and I have been involved in almost every aspect of Cofradia's Bilingual School's development since 1999 when we assumed responsibility for the school's financial survival and recruited the first International volunteers. We have taken the school from renting a small block of tiny apartments to a specially constructed facility on owned property. Where the first volunteers stayed in our home (we moved our children to accommodate this), we now rent three houses for volunteer accommodation and have purchased a large property and commenced construction on a brand new teacher and visitor accommodation complex which we hope will ready for the 2006-2007 school year. We have come a long way with Cofradia's Bilingual school and we have a long, long way to go.

If you are here, looking at this particular page because you want to find out about me, you have come to the right place. The small pop up list below will offer many hours of investigative research for anyone trying to figure out what really makes me tick (and I wish you luck). If you are thinking about coming to Honduras to help at the school or wondering about the wisdom of sponsoring a child at the school, I hope, the little pop up box (below) also provides quick links to all the information you may want to have before making an affirmative decision. Almost all our communications are Internet based and we are asking people to spend hard earned personal funds to help a school possibly on the other side of the world from them. And, on the strength of what they see only in Cyberspace. Now, that almost sounds a little crazy if you ask me. However, we are convinced that it would actually be in almost everyone's best interests to join us in developing our concept of multi-cultural education for all children in every community starting here in Cofradia (the name means "brotherhood") - let's see if together we can expand that to "A Global brotherhood of man/woman/childkind".

Cofradia's Bilingual School offers teachers the opportunity to put all their creative talents and special abilities to the test. We offer this opportunity to a limited number of teachers each year. We try to be the best hosts we can and in return we only ask that you try to be the best teacher you can be (7AM-2PM), while at the same time learning to live in an International group house and integrate smoothly into a small Central American community. If you feel that you are a good teacher and that sounds like it might be fun -click "Apply to Volunteer" please. We have a wonderful social crossection of Cofradia's children eagerly awaiting your arrival. We know that what you will take back "home" from your year with us, will be invaluable for the rest of your life.
